The Energy Award recognizes employees who go above and beyond their responsibilities. It honors those who actively seek ways to strengthen teamwork, support customers, and enhance our operations. These contributions often happen behind the scenes, but their impact is felt across the company.
Rich Harmer exceeded his contractor requirements while the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT) experienced a gap in military billets and unavailability of government personnel from August through November 2025. During this period, Rich assumed rating lead responsibilities, ensuring all government requirements were being met. He communicated daily with stakeholder personnel internal and external to CNATT.
His knowledge of curriculum development programs used by the Navy has been instrumental in CNATT being able to provide vital requests for correction to content, assuring future products and milestones will not be stalled. Rich mitigated a government personnel shortage and assured the CNATT Career Training Continuum (CTC) team completed all curriculum reviews prior to the suspense, allowing the entire FY24 team to continue making progress through the CTC process.
Rich's contributions include submitting 162 Enabling Learning Objectives (ELOs) for review, completing FY24 Aviation Electronics Technician Organizational/Intermediate (ATO/ATI) ratings for content conversion. His team reviewed over 780 documents for 12 courses. He also ensured fulfillment of 12 Government Furnished Information (GFI) requests, completed Course Master Schedule change requests, coordinated meetings to validate photo matrices, and provided AGILE training to new personnel across four sites.
Rich's knowledge is shared among his team and has been instrumental in the improved quality of documents being reviewed. What stands out most about Rich isn't just his performance—it's his presence. His energy makes JANUS a stronger, more collaborative environment. Rich's remarkable leadership, teamwork, and commitment to excellence have established him as an asset to both the Business Unit and the entire JANUS organization.
