Honoring the Energy That Elevates Us: Congratulations to Michael Winkler

02/27/2026

Some people bring skill to their work. Others bring commitment. But every so often, we have the privilege of working alongside someone who brings something even more powerful: energy that inspires, motivates, and pushes our entire organization forward. Michael Winkler is a recent recipient of the JANUS Energy Award.

The Energy Award recognizes employees who consistently go above and beyond to spark progress and deliver results. Michael Winkler has done exactly that. Michael has also shown exceptional skill in team organization and a strong ability to inspire collaboration through new and innovative ways.

Michael currently serves as the team lead for the USAF T-7A Maintenance Training System (MTS), TSRA Update & Validation effort. Under this effort he has masterfully led 7 analysts in the completion of the Mission Task Analysis Report, and much of the Training Requirements Analysis Report. This was absolutely remarkable considering the team was faced with delayed access to critical GFI, ongoing changes in technical information, and numerous side quests. Regardless, they stepped into the fray with expertise, tenacity, and perseverance, and achieved the meticulous identification and documentation of over 3,000 aviation maintenance tasks necessary to support the T-7A aircraft. Amazingly, Michael and his team achieved 90% maturity for their TSRA products, even though the technical manual remains incomplete.

In addition, Michael has also shown exceptional skill in team organization and a strong ability to "get to yes." He and his team were requested to accomplish the TSRA two and a half months early, so other contracted teams can move forward with design and build of curriculum, digital training devices, and hardware training devices. Without hesitation, Michael and his team found innovative ways to capture and deliver new and updated tasks for verification, gain USAF concurrence, and expand traceability across the T-7A MTS. As a result, the requested accelerated timeline was made achievable and is currently being executed.

Michael's leadership and professionalism have been instrumental and have helped build an exceptional product that he and his team can be very proud of. Under a very compressed timeline, he led an exceptional team that has helped build a solid foundation for future work with the USAF. Michael is most deserving of recognition and receipt of an Energy Award.

At JANUS, we talk often about our mission: performing challenging work that matters most to our nation and delivering lasting solutions. That mission is only possible because of people like Michael whose energy helps transform ideas into results. Today, we proudly celebrate his achievements and the spirit he brings to our organization.
