Honoring the Energy That Elevates Us: Congratulations to Joseph Thomas

Joseph Thomas is a recent recipient of the JANUS Energy Award.

The Energy Award recognizes employees who consistently go above and beyond to spark progress and deliver results. Joseph did just that through elevating customer experiences and demonstrating a rare combination of drive, insight, and positivity.

Joseph was recognized for his exceptional performance as a Future Warfare Analyst in support of the Future Study Program 2026-2 (FSP26-2) STAFFEX, a key preparatory event for the Chief of Staff of the Army's Wargame. Assigned as a Future Warfare Analyst, Joseph played a critical role in the execution of the Data Collection and Management Plan by conducting rigorous data collection and analysis to address established Learning Demands and Essential Elements of Analysis. His disciplined analytical approach ensured the capture of high-value observations and decision-quality insights throughout the event.

While examining a large-scale combat operations scenario set in 2040, Joseph captured critical observations and identified emerging insights that directly informed the development of the 2040 Scenario Required Force (SRF) and future Army Warfighting Concepts. Serving as the designated "Red Room" analyst, Joseph expertly captured insights from the Threat Emulation Force (TEFOR), providing essential analysis on how adversary elements observed, interpreted, and assessed the actions of the Scenario Required Force. His work added a decisive adversarial perspective that strengthened the analytical rigor and strategic relevance of the event.

Joseph was personally lauded by the Integration and Analysis Branch Chief for his exceptional situational awareness and ability to consistently position himself at the center of complex senior leader discussions and decision-making sessions, ensuring the capture of key insights at the most critical moments.

Joseph's superior performance reflects great credit upon himself, JANUS, and the Future Warfare Division team. His efforts directly contributed to shaping the Army's future warfighting concepts and force design decisions.
