David Polizzotti Named JANUS Employee of the Quarter

JANUS Employee of the Quarter David Polizzotti has been with the company for five years and serves in T2COM Programs Business, currently as Chief of Data Science Solutions Team for Joint Modernization Command.

Ask David what he enjoys most about working at JANUS, and he points first to the people. “What I enjoy most about working at JANUS is being surrounded by people who are competent, mission-focused, and willing to tackle difficult problems.” He also values the clear sense of direction within the T2COM business unit, and the trust that comes with it. Given a task, a purpose, and an end state, he and his team are free to run with it. “It’s that innovation that makes JANUS a place I’ve enjoyed being part of.”

If David could sit down with one person, past or present, he would choose Ulysses S. Grant, not for his command of the Union Army during the Civil War, but for how he worked. As David tells it, Grant was the least impressive-looking man in a war full of peacocks. With no presence and no theater, Grant still produced orders nobody could misread. The night after the first day at Shiloh, with his army wrecked and everyone expecting a withdrawal, Grant told Sherman they would whip them tomorrow. They did.

“He wrote the same way he commanded. Here is what happened. Here is what mattered. Here is what I did. No ornaments, no fluff.”

David would ask Grant how he came to understand a problem with such conviction that it was nearly impossible to move him off it. “I’d probably get three sentences in response and spend the next ten years trying to truly understand them.”

Something tells us David’s take on those three sentences would be worth the wait.
