Space Weather and GPS Anomaly Detection

Providing advance warning and anomaly attribution for GPS degradation caused by solar flares and geomagnetic storms.

01The Challenge

GPS is fundamental to modern military operations, but it is vulnerable to degradation from space weather. Solar flares cause sudden ionization increases, and geomagnetic storms create large-scale density gradients in the ionosphere, both of which can exceed the correction capabilities of standard GPS receivers and cause loss of lock.

02How We Accelerated

Our space weather team processes GPS observables from global receiver networks in near real-time to detect ionospheric disturbances. We run physical forecast models that predict the impact of incoming solar events on GPS performance. We also integrate this data into the Space Anomaly AI Nextgen Tool (SAAINT) platform.

03The Result

Our tools give operators hours to days of advance warning for mission planning. Crucially for defense and intelligence operations, our SAAINT integration supports comprehensive space situational awareness, enabling operators to correctly distinguish between natural space weather degradation and adversarial jamming or spoofing.
