Project Convergence — Joint All-Domain Integration
Accelerating convergence across all warfighting domains for the Army's most ambitious modernization experiment.
01The Challenge
Since 2018, Army Futures Command (AFC) has led the charge on modernizing America's ground force — but modernization at this scale demands more than new technology. Project Convergence, the Army's premier force modernization experiment, required rapidly and continuously integrating effects across all five warfighting domains — land, air, sea, space, and cyberspace — through intelligence gathering, data sharing, and interoperable systems. The Joint and multinational force needed to decide and act faster than any adversary, in both competition and conflict.
The scale was staggering: over 50 new warfighting systems under active development across the Army's Cross Functional Teams, DARPA, the ISR Task Force, the Artificial Intelligence Task Force, and every branch of the Joint Force. Beyond technology integration, the program also had to address how the Army organizes, trains, and develops the talent pipeline for soldiers who will need on-demand code-writing skills at the tactical edge.
02How We Accelerated
JANUS delivered a comprehensive suite of support services to the U.S. Army Joint Modernization Command (JMC), the organization directly responsible for planning, executing, and assessing Project Convergence 22.
Our team accelerated decision dominance through strategic planning and public affairs operations, delivering relevant information about Project Convergence to a dynamic and diverse set of stakeholders. We led the creation of JADC2 network architecture design, construction, and network accreditation — connecting separate computer systems and software applications into a unified, interoperable system that enables every domain to function as one.
JANUS delivered experiment planning and use case development demonstrating the processes and systems needed for decision dominance. Our teams led system-of-systems integration, modeling and simulation, and new equipment training focused on creating tactical operations fully compatible with the Multi-Domain Operations concept. We provided rigorous assessment of new organizational concepts and system capabilities, combined with operational research and post-experiment reporting to inform the Army's most critical investment decisions.
03The Result
JANUS accelerated the Army's path to modernization, helping forge the future of Joint All-Domain Operations. Project Convergence 22 marked the third consecutive year of JANUS-supported experiments, each one building on lessons learned to push the Joint team closer to a force that can converge effects at speed and scale.
The services JANUS delivers are ensuring the Army remains the world's preeminent, most technologically advanced, and lethal fighting force — with the ultimate goal of shaping a force ready for future conflict.
