DevSecOps Cloud Migration (ArCADIE & Forge to cARMY)
Delivering the Army's first cARMY cloud migration with a DevSecOps pipeline that accelerates secure software delivery to warfighters.
01The Challenge
Army Futures Command needed to move its most critical architecture and capability development applications — ArCADIE and Forge — from aging on-premises infrastructure to the modern cARMY cloud environment. The migration had to achieve both Impact Level 5 (IL5) and Impact Level 6 (IL6) compliance, enabling classified architecture development on SIPR for the first time in over a decade.
The challenge extended beyond a simple lift-and-shift: legacy systems needed to be re-architected into modular, flexible, cloud-native applications while maintaining continuous accreditation and zero downtime for the users who depend on these systems daily.
02How We Accelerated
JANUS delivered the migration through a battle-tested DevSecOps methodology, beginning with our positive and well-integrated systems development, security, and operational team culture. We leveraged CMMI Level 3 best practices for documentation and process improvements, ensuring repeatable success demonstrated by multiple migration iterations for both ArCADIE and Forge.
Our team led cloud planning, migration, and implementation in close collaboration with AFC, Futures and Concepts Center (FCC) leadership, and trusted cloud partners. We transformed on-premises solutions into modular, agile applications focused on rapid delivery while continuously improving security posture.
JANUS enabled continuous Authorization to Operate (ATO) through our DevSecOps methodology, security-focused culture, and Risk Management Framework automations. Our certified Information Assurance professionals coordinate with C5ISR, AFC-MADE Support Staff, and the cARMY Infrastructure Team to ensure uninterrupted cyber resilience.
03The Result
JANUS successfully migrated ArCADIE to the AFC MADE cloud for IL5 and IL6, delivering the first SIPR instantiation for ArCADIE in over ten years — a landmark achievement ensuring the government can develop classified architectures in a modern, secure environment.
Forge became the first application of its kind within cARMY for IL5, with IL6 migration completed shortly after. The cloud migration immediately unlocked CI/CD pipelines with Azure Artifacts, BurpSuite and SonarQube code scanning, PowerBI and RShiny dashboards for data analytics, and API-enabled data integration across the Army.
This success led the government to mandate cARMY cloud migration for ArCADIE — a direct endorsement of JANUS's DevSecOps approach and the stronger, faster, more stable applications we delivered.
