LIGHTHOUSE TOOL FOR HUMAN SYSTEMS INTEGRATION
The Customer Challenge
JANUS (formerly Cape Henry Associates), recognized the Army Contracting Command's need for a matured, multi-functional information architecture to ensure that personnel are prepared, equipped and provided with a Human Systems Engineering (HSE) business process and integrated framework workflow application tool that captures, correlates and analyzes disparate datasets.
The JANUS Approach
Lighthouse is a technology stack that was born out of the Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Program. It's a purpose-built platform that was developed specifically to measure and report on the effectiveness of Human Systems Integration (HSI) tools, methods, and practices. The platform identifies and defines the requirements for both short and long-term manpower, personnel and training (MPT) deliverables.
JANUS demonstrated their capabilities and Lighthouse expertise on tasks in their execution of work with the Army Research Laboratory (ARL), delivering diverse MPT deliverables to the Department of the Navy (DON) over a five-year period of performance, eventually leading to an award from the General Services Administration (GSA) SBIR Phase III HSE Lighthouse contract.
JANUS displayed a vast array of experience providing technical support for the operations and sustainment of Lighthouse- equipped Carrier Advanced Reconfigurable Training Systems (C-ARTS). JANUS' ability to provide the personnel to execute the tasks is evidenced by staff of more than 60 Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across a wide domain of Department of Defense (DOD) technical competencies. They have experience in analyzing mission impacts, configuration, and workload to determine how these factors affect manpower requirements and training requirement projections.
The Result
JANUS provided a technical system that is well-organized and incorporates human elements that appropriately address the entire lifecycle of the enterprise system.
The application of Lighthouse technology resolves the problem of disconnected requirements data, allowing for documented changes to assets to be dynamically tied to training, speeding the obtainment of mission capability by improving the relevancy of training at the point of mission accomplishment.
