Position Overview

Leads and directs a team of Joint subject matter experts that assist U.S. Army Joint Modernization Command in designing, developing, and assessing two large-scale Joint/Multinational live experiments each year:  (1)  The Chief of Staff of the Army's annual Joint Warfighting Assessment (JWA), aimed at improving Joint readiness, Joint and Multinational interoperability, and assessing the effectiveness and value of new organizational concepts and materiel capabilities under conditions of Multi-Domain Battle—an accredited Joint National Training Capability (JNTC) exercise (2) PROJECT CONVERGENCE, the Army Futures Command’s premier force modernization experiment aimed at integrating, employing, and assessing new Army/Joint warfighting systems emerging from the Army’s CFTs, CDIDs, DARPA, Joint Services, and other agencies; coordinates with Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, U.S. Special Operations Command, U.S. Space Command, U.S. Cyber Command, and numerous Multinational partners to obtain forces necessary to achieve experiment objectives; leads and guides a Joint/Multinational Integrated Project Team to set conditions to achieve experiment objectives and the training objectives of all unit commanders; coordinates with U.S. Army Forces Command and J7, Joint Staff to obtain Joint forces and Joint funding for live experiments; during execution of experiments, supervises collection of   observations and develop recommendations designed to improve the war fighting performance of the Joint/Multinational force.  

Specific knowledge, skills, and experience include:

  • Experience and knowledge of the U.S. Army Joint Modernization Command
  • Experience and knowledge of the Joint Staff J7 Joint National Training Capability program
  • Established relationships within the community of expertise (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, USSOCOM, USSPACECOM, USCYBERCOM)
  • Knowledge and experience with Concept to Capability Analysis and Integration processes
  • Knowledge and experience with Joint exercise planning, execution, and assessment
  • Knowledge and experience with Joint Planning Cells, including integration and assessment of Joint Concepts
  • Skillful management of multiple, concurrent efforts
  • Experienced  and skilled facilitator, briefer, and presenter of analytical results (written or orally) to General Officer/Flag Officer leadership (Army, other Service, and Joint)
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite

Clearance: 

  • Required to have a US Secret clearance

Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Service Command and Staff College Graduate
  • Joint Professional Military Education Level 2, Joint Staff Officer, or Special Operations qualified
  • 3+ years experience on a Combined Joint Task Force level or higher within a Combatant Command HQ
    • Specific experience in planning and executing joint, inter-organizational and multi-national operations
  • 3+ years of experience developing and providing GO/FO level information and solution papers/summaries/AARs
  • 3+ years of experience conducting integration and assessment of Doctrine, Organization, Training, Material, Leadership Personnel, Facilities, and Policy (DOTMLPF-P) strategies

Desired:   

  • Master’s degree
  • Senior Service College Graduate
  • Service on the staff of USINDOPACOM,USEUCOM-AFRICA, staffs of Subordinate Joint Components within these combatant commands, or a CJTF.

Travel:

  • As required estimated 10-15% a year, both CONUS and OCONUS
