JANUS RESEARCH GROUP JOINS I/ITSEC 2021 EDUCATION COMMITTEE, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP BOARD AND SERIOUS GAMES SHOWCASE & CHALLENGE IPT BOARD

November 21st, 2021 (Orlando, FL) - JANUS Research Group's Dr. Jim Frey and Kishan Shetty will join the Education Committee, Professional Development Workshop Board and Serious Games Showcase & Challenge IPT Board this year at I/ITSEC 2021 in Orlando, FL. The conference will take place at the Orange County Convention Center and run from November 29th - December 3rd.
Dr. Jim Frey will sit on the Education Committee, which seeks papers that discuss the development and application of instructional strategies, methods, theories and best practices that promote or advance learning. Of particular interest are papers that report qualitative and/or quantitative data using new and innovative media types, or the use of big data and analytics as a means to further accelerate learning and capture large data sets that can be used for qualitative and or quantitative educational research. As part of his involvement with this committee, he will be co-hosting a session as Session Deputy entitled "How To Build Adaptive Training Amid a Future of Uncertainty", along with Stu Armstrong with Cole Engineering Services, Inc. This session will take place on December 1st at 9:30AM in room 320D.
Dr. Frey is also sitting on the Professional Development Workshops Board. The I/ITSEC Professional Development Workshops are free professional development seminars held on the last day (Friday) of I/ITSEC. These sessions cover various scholarly, governmental, and professional topics in an in-depth and interactive manner. Subject-matter experts lead each workshop and participants are encouraged to contribute to the discussions. In addition to personal growth opportunities, the Workshops provide a convenient way to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs). CEUs are formal credits that individuals can earn by participating in continuing education activities. On Thursday, December 2nd from 10:30AM-12:00PM in Room 320GH, Dr. Frey will host a workshop entitled "Joint Cyber Warfighting Architecture Cyber Panel". This panel will bring together Joint Cyber Warfighting Architecture (JCWA) principals to explore how each of the five elements (common firing platforms for a comprehensive suite of cyber tools, a unified platform that will integrate and analyze data from offensive and defense operations, joint and control mechanisms for situational awareness, sensors that support defense of the network and drive operational decisions, and a persistent cyber training environment) are put into concept and envisioned for the future.
Lastly, Kishan Shetty will sit on the Serious Games Showcase & Challenge (SGS&C) IPT Board. This Showcase celebrates the use of games and game technology as a delivery medium for instructional material. The challenge is divided into categories: Business, Government, Student, XR (VR/AR/MR), Innovation, and Students' Choice. After evaluation, the top entries from all received are selected as finalists and invited to showcase their games on the exhibit floor during I/ITSEC. A second round of evaluations from worldwide industry experts determines the "Best in Category" for each of the categories. Awards will be presented at I/ITSEC to recognize this accomplishment plus an additional award is selected by all I/ITSEC attendees via ballots for the "People's Choice Award" - the serious game attendees deem the Best of Show.
