JANUS Team Member Emily Trautwein Celebrates 10 Years
04/27/2025
Program Manager Emily Trautwein is celebrating her 10th anniversary with JANUS in May. Emily came to JANUS via our acquisition of Cape Henry Associates. In the last 10 years, Emily has served as an executive assistant, project analyst, junior project manager, project manager, senior project manager, product line manager of the Project Management Office, junior program manager, and program manager.
Emily manages JANUS' General Services Administration (GSA) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program, which is a five-year, $65 million contract. Emily is directly responsible for the initial development, award, and execution of the Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) and all associated task orders. To date, JANUS has been awarded 29 task orders.
Emily worked a tremendous number of extra hours in the development of the SBIR IDIQ. This included many late nights and weekends, demonstrating her incredible dedication. Many of the taskers required a very short turnaround, making this an extremely difficult endeavor requiring selfless devotion and commitment to company growth. On top of her demanding work schedule, Emily earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a 3.9 GPA. This was an extraordinary workload with incredible demands, showcasing not only Emily's commitment to JANUS' growth, but her commitment to her own growth and desire to increase her knowledge and skill base.
Emily has made a quick progression from executive assistant to program manager, which has required her to overcome adversity from which most would shy away. This progression has required her to spend extra time learning the requisite skill sets to perform at the highest level, while training and developing subordinates. Her intelligence, drive, and never-give-up attitude have allowed her to succeed in all eight roles she has held in the last 10 years.
Her responsibilities as the SBIR program manager include the continual development of the proprietary Lighthouse™ technology. This technology includes Human Systems Integration/Human Machine Engineering (HSI/HME) Manpower, Personnel, and Training (MPT) analyses; design, development, and delivery of analysis-driven training products required to produce optimized readiness; and enhancement and extension of the capabilities of the High Velocity Learning Environment (HVLE). She played an integral part in the design, procurement, and delivery of five HVLEs. She also helped develop the Configuration-Based Requirements Analysis (CoBRA) database, another module that was added to Lighthouse technology. She is currently working with a team in the development of Beacon, an artificial intelligence (AI) tool that analyzes various MPT products, such as Job Duty Task Analysis (JDTA).
Emily is constantly looking to improve her skills and knowledge base, with an ultimate goal of further progression within the company. Her next personal goal is to earn her PMP. As proven by her rapid upward trajectory and her aspirations, the sky is the limit for Emily. We fully expect she will continue to take on additional responsibilities and be promoted to positions that encompass and showcase her growing skill set.
When not involved in pursuing her career aspirations, Emily can be found participating in all sorts of arts and crafts projects, listening to music, spending time with friends and family, and spoiling her animals. We're honestly not sure where she finds the time to read more than 200 books a year, but she does.
We are thrilled to celebrate Emily's 10th anniversary and look forward to the amazing client solutions Emily will be a part of given her dedication and commitment to JANUS.
