JANUS RESEARCH GROUP ANNOUNCED AS ONE OF THE RECIPIENTS FOR THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF STANDARDS AND TECHNOLOGY PUBLIC SAFETY INNOVATION ACCELERATOR PROGRAM

07/26/2022

July 26th, 2022 (Evans, GA) - Janus Research Group (JANUS) has recently been announced as one of the six recipients for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Public Safety Innovation Accelerator Program 2022 (PSIAP-2022) covering a two-year period of performance.

These Research and Development (R&D) awards aim to accelerate research, development, production, and testing of key public safety capabilities related to mission critical voice, location-based services, and user interface/user experience.

The NIST will directly support our "Augmented Reality Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) Mitigation Framework and Application" work that will help to tame fires that have been growing in severity and size, ultimately destroying structure, harming communities and costing billions of dollars. Our R&D efforts produced from this award will help to develop technologies that offer holistic improvements for first responder operations, situational awareness, and overall public safety communications by helping define standards and development open-source tools.

About the National Institute of Standards and Technology

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) was founded in 1901 and is now part of the U.S. Department of Commerce. NIST is one of the nation's oldest physical science laboratories.

From the smart electric power grid and electronic health records to atomic clocks, advanced nanomaterials and computer chips, innumerable products and services rely in some way on technology, measurement and standards provided by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Today, NIST measurements support the smallest of technologies to the largest and most complex of human-made creations - from nanoscale devices so tiny that tens of thousands can fit on the end of a single human hair up to earthquake-resistant skyscrapers and global communication networks.

About the Department of Commerce

The Department of Commerce's mission is to create the conditions for economic growth and opportunity for all communities. Through its 13 bureaus, the Department works to drive U.S. economic competitiveness, strengthen domestic industry, and spur the growth of quality jobs in all communities across the country. The Department serves as the voice of business in the Federal Government, and at the same time, the Department touches and serves every American every day.
