JERRY PORTILLO AWARDED JANUS RESEARCH ENERGY AWARD

December 10th, 2021 (Evans, GA) - Jerry Portillo has been awarded the JANUS Research Group Energy Award for his support not only to the G6/Network Operations (NETOPS), but also the Joint Modernization Command (JMC)/Network Integration Division of the U.S. Army Joint Modernization Command.
Jerry has provided invaluable technical assistance for both JMC G6/NETOPS and JMC/Network Integration Division efforts to plan, design, configure, construct, operate, and maintain the JMCSN and Optical Network Terminal (OTN) networks, and their associated architectures to include but not limited to routers, switches, servers and end user devices on multiple enclaves or varying classification. His work on the Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) network and domain trust between Fort Carson and United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) assured mission success during Joint Warfighter Assessment 21.
Jerry has also configured and placed into operation more than 500 end user devices including Video Teleconferencing (VTC) Suites, laptops, printers and scanners across two different enclaves for both Joint Warfighting Assessment (JWA) 21 and Project Convergence (PC) 21 this year. In addition to this stellar technical work, Jerry participated in multiple working and test groups prior to these large-scale Army experiments, identifying shortages for hardware and software needed for proper Network evaluation, and making recommendations to key stakeholders and audiences, including Army Futures Command, Department of Defense, and Joint and multinational partners integral to the Army's modernization efforts now and into the future.
