Position Overview

Provide the ARCIC JMC a Joint Planning Cell, with senior Special Operations subject matter expertise (SME), to conduct Joint Warfighting Assessments (JWA) mission analysis and joint operations planning, run joint integrated planning team task management, chair biweekly SOF working group meetings, brief JWA concept and requirements at annual USSOCOM and component SOF Joint training venues, produce higher command orders, exercise directives, governing documents and conduct analysis to make recommendations and incorporate emerging concepts in JWAs to advance SOF modernization, interoperability and readiness.

The SOF SME will provide task management and mission support at Ft Bliss and Ft Eustis as part of the Joint Planning Cell (JPC).  Specific knowledge, skills, and experience include:

  • Experience and knowledge of the Joint Modernization Command
  • Experience and knowledge of the Joint Staff J7 Joint National Training Capability program
  • Established relationships within the USSOCOM community
  • Knowledge and experience with Concept to Capability Analysis and Integration processes
  • Knowledge of Force 2025 and Beyond (F2025B)
  • Knowledge and experience with Joint Warfighting Assessments
  • Knowledge and experience with Joint Planning Cells, including integration of Joint Concepts
  • Knowledge of US Army acquisition decision processes to include tools, modeling, and current processes
  • Skillful management of multiple, concurrent efforts
  • Experienced facilitator, briefer, and presenter of analytical results (written or orally) to senior leadership (Army, other Service, and Joint)
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite

Required: 

  • Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Service Command and Staff College Graduate
  • Joint Professional Military Education Level 2, Joint Staff Officer, or Special Operations qualified
  • 3+ years on a Joint Staff at the Joint Task Force level or higher
    • Requires specific experience in planning joint, inter-organizational and multi-national (JIM) ops
  • 3+ years of experience providing GO/FO level information and solution papers/summaries/AARs
  • 3+ years of experience conducting integration and assessment of Doctrine, Organization, Training, Material, Leadership Personnel, Facilities, and Policy (DOTMLPF-P) strategies

Desired: 

  • Master’s degree
  • Service Senior Service College Graduate

Specific SOF Billet Requirements:

  • 10+ years US Special Operations operational assignments
    • With 5+ years at the tactical level and
    • 3+ years in a special operations headquarters at or above the one-star level
  • Proficient in the planning, allocation and employment of US special operations forces and capabilities in support of JIM operations.

Travel:

  • As required estimated 10-15% a year, both CONUS and OCONUS
