JANUS is proud to have been selected as a prime contractor for SeaPort-e, the Navy SYSCOM Commanders integrated approach for procuring support services.

SeaPort Enhanced (SeaPort-e) has made electronic procurement of Engineering, Financial, and Program Management support services a reality. Using SeaPort-e, the Navy Virtual SYSCOM (VS) Commanders (NAVAIR, NAVSEA, NAVSUP and SPAWAR) has adopted an integrated approach to contracting for support services. The SeaPort-e portal provides a standardized means of issuing competitive solicitations amongst a large and diverse community of approved contractors, as well as a platform for awarding and managing performance-based task orders. This unified approach allows SeaPort-e service procurement teams to leverage their best work products, practices, and approaches across the Navy's critical service business sector.

On November 8th Jim Timmerman and Bill Speer traveled to The Citadel in Charleston for a series of presentations on the Global War on Terror. They were invited to The Citadel by Dr. Samuel M. Hines, Provost and Dean of the College. The presentations were sponsored by the Middle East Studies Student Association and the Republican Society.

At a luncheon attended by over 100 cadets Jim and Bill discussed how JANUS provides a bridge between the military and civilian sectors and job opportunities with JANUS. Questions were asked about GWOT and JANUS.

In the evening over 150 people, both cadet and Charleston civilians attended the formal briefing. The presentation was a non-political account of the war focused on the role of U.S. Troops, specifically the Army, with a emphasis upon Iraq and Afghanistan. After the presentation, questions were fielded concerning GWOT overall and Iraq in particular. One cadet emailed the team to thank them saying, "Thank you for your time. It was highly educational and extremely interesting. I wish more programs were offered like this." Another stated that the briefing was "incredible".

The evening provoked a lively discussion among faculty, staff, and cadets about the war and plans are now underway for a return visit in the Spring as well as a series of debates and discussion on campus.
