Project Manager -- Augusta or Atlanta, Georgia
• Ensures that Engineering projects are delivered on time, on budget and to the required quality standard and agreed project specifications.
• Ensure the project is effectively resourced and coordinates with Department Managers, and COO of Engineering to request resources and or staff.
• Prepares quarterly/annual evaluations input for Department Manager use in the development of staff evaluations. Provides input and suggests monetary reward for project bonuses and annual raises to Department Mangers for staff supporting their projects.
• Prepares end of project assessments for project staff to be included in employee evaluations.
• Conducts After-Action Reviews with project staff after major milestones and at project completion. Prepares and publishes AAR results for dissemination with other Project Mangers and Division Management.
• Reports project status to COO of Engineering and VP of Engineering during weekly Managers meeting and as requested.
• Defines project scope and builds project schedule in accordance with client/contract deliverables.
• Identifies, tracks and resolves project issues.
• Proactively disseminates project information to all team members; conducts project status meetings with project staff; conveys project completion status to staff and senior management.
• Identifies, manages and mitigates project risks. Coordinates with Division Management for risk items that become issues effecting deliverables and overall project scope.
• Oversees Project Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes/procedures to ensure project deliverables meet/exceed client expectations.
• Proactively manages scope to ensure that only what is defined in the contract deliverables is delivered, unless changes are approved through scope management.
• Defines and collects metrics to convey how the project is progressing and whether the deliverables produced are acceptable.
• Manages the overall project schedule, staff, and resources to ensure work is assigned and completed on time and within budget utilizing corporate management tools and procedures.
• Is an effective people manager. Sets reasonable, clear and concise expectations and holds project staff accountable for meeting the expectations. Works with Department Managers to resolve staff performance issues.
Requirements
• Knowledge of Project Management and Risk Management
• Top Secret Clearance preferred; Secret Clearance required.
• Have an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Project©
• Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to create presentations and write reports.
Experience & Education
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other technical discipline or equivalent additional experience
• Minimum 5 years experience in Program, Project or Operations Management
• Familiarization with Interactive Multimedia Instruction concepts and design
• Knowledge or relevant work experience with modeling and simulation
• Familiarity with Army Tactical Communications systems is a plus
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Solid computer skills
• Occasional travel required to support project initiatives
